The Pelican Rapids girls basketball team defeated West Central Area 57-38 on Wednesday in the opening round of the Minnesota National Bank Holiday Classic.

“It was a nice win to start the tournament,” said coach Brian Korf.  Going into the tournament, the Vikings were without starter Kaylie Isaman who will be out for a couple of weeks due to an injury.

The Vikings jumped out to a lead right from the start and built a fourteen point lead at intermission.  Adriana Torres scored 14 of the Vikings 26 points in the first half.

“I thought Torres did a nice job of getting to the basket in the first half,” commented Coach Korf.
