Singers invited to join

The Lakes Area Chorale community choir invites new singers to join the group.

The chorale will begin its fourth annual season January 15 with a concert on April 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes.

The choir has approximately forty-five members in it. This year’s concert will feature over 100 performers including the Lakes Area Chorale, First Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran bell choirs, a string quartet, and local instrumentalists. The Lakes Area Chorale will be performing a variety of styles of music including Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, pieces by Mozart, Bach, local composer Lucas Tomlinson, and more.

The concert will be conducted by Lori Fiechtner Paakh, M.M. from Detroit Lakes, and guest conductor, Michael Culloton PhD, from Concordia, in Moorhead.

Lakes Area Chorale members are from Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Vergas, Cormorant Village, Glyndon, Dilworth, Pelican Rapids, Fargo, Moorhead, Perham, and Hawley.

The Lakes Area Chorale is a non-profit organization sponsored by Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center and local businesses.

The Lakes Area Chorale welcomes and encourages new members to join. Rehearsals are from 1 to 3 pm on Sundays beginning January 15 through April 2. Anyone interested in joining the choir, email Annette Rice at or for more information go to Facebook at There is a cost to participate in the choir.

“The spirit of the Lakes Area Chorale is positive, inclusive, and very enjoyable.  Members who don’t read music, learn their parts in sectional rehearsals and from digital recordings. It is my hope to continue to grow in our membership so that more singers can join the fun this year,” noted director Lori Fiechtner Paakh.
