Minnesota Junior High School Mathematics League held its third meet of the season on November 23.
Pelican Rapids seventh and eighth graders had a very successful day, with five mathletes placing individually.
Julian Gunderson tied for first place out of over 100 competitors in the West Central division. Rachel Guler and Greta Tollefson were right behind him in a tie for third place. Seventh graders Sam Moe and Tori Stephenson also placed in the top ten individually. Also earning high scores for the Vikings were Isaac Olson, Dillon Nord, and McHale Korf.
As a team Pelican Rapids Vikings claimed first place at this meet. Team members were eighth graders Gunderson, Tollefson, Weston Funk, and Korf, and seventh graders Sophie Hovden and Ella Backstrom.
Cumulative results after three meets show the Pelican Rapids Vikings team in first place overall, followed closely by Alexandria and Albany. Individually Gunderson is in sole possession of third place, with Greta Tollefson right behind him in fifth place.
Also in the top twenty-five are Backstrom, Guler, Hovden, Funk, Moe, Korf, and Lily Holl. Sixth graders Janae LaFerriere, Tanner Tollerud, and Jed Carlson are all listed in the top half of all competitors. LaFerriere is the top sixth grader in the division.
