County Sheriff Office Deputy Zach Eifert and Mojo, a three-year-old Dutch Shepherd, as part of the county K-9 unit, assisted members of the Minnesota State Patrol at 9:08 p.m. on Dec. 5 in rural Fergus Falls.

The state patrol needed assistance in a vehicle search. Eifert and Mojo have national certifications for narcotics detection and patrol functions.

Evidence found inside the vehicle was inconclusive, but the driver was detained for further questioning. A female passenger was taken to her residence in Fergus Falls.

Driver injured in crash, later cited for DWI

The driver of a vehicle who was injured in a crash southeast of Parkers Prairie, shortly after midnight on Dec. 6, was later cited for DWI. Charges were forthcoming.

The accident took place at the intersection of 110th Street and 590th Avenue.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the ditch,” said County Sheriff Administrative Lt. Keith VanDyke. “The victim was bleeding after sustaining minor injuries to the face.”

The crash victim was taken to the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. County deputies arranged for the vehicle to be towed to the county impound lot.
