Enrollment in the Pelican Rapids schools dipped somewhat at the end of October, according to monthly student numbers reported at the Nov. 14 school board meeting.

At the high school, enrollment slipped from 409 in September to 401 at the end of October.

At Viking elementary school, enrollment was steady at 466 students in grades K-6 from October to November. But numbers were down from 476 at the start of the school year.

Early projections of enrollment in the 2017-2018 school year are at 858 in grades K to 12.  Projections of enrollment for the coming year are made later in the calander year, for budgeting purposes by the school board and administration.

  In Pelican school personnel matters, November 14, the board:

• Accepted the resignation of Shawn Gravalin as junior high football coach

• Accepted the resignation of Dr. Ed Richardson as assistant Boys Basketball coach

• Hired Brian Evenson as Asst. Boys Basketball coach
