The vendor fair and market day at the Pelican Rapids Fire Hall is one of the many events during the Oktoberfest schedule in Pelican.
Proceeds generated from Oktoberfest, after expenses, are donated for beautification and civic projects in the area–and 2016 was a good year, with total revenues nearly $3,000 higher than 2015.

Oktoberfest 2016 will be the focus of a post-event review by members of the committee.

The critique meeting is set for Tuesday, October 25, at 6 p.m. at the Pelican Rapids VFW Club.

The fall festival is one of the biggest fundraising activities in the community, with proceeds going toward civic improvements and beatification projects in the Pelican-Erhard area.

“We had another successful Oktoberfest,” commented committee chairperson Penny Haugrud.

She reported that the auction event Oct. 8 generated total sales of $9,000–nearly $2,000 more than the 2015 event.  Those gains will enable the committee to contribute even more to improvement projects in the area.

Sale of the Oktoberfest raffle tickets were also up, at $3,800–compared to about $3,000 last year, reported Haugrud.

All of the 600 Oktoberfest buttons sold out, at $5 each–generating $3,000.
