SHARON TESCHENDORF


Sharon R. Teschendorf, age 80, of Pelican Rapids, MN (formally Royal Oak, MI) died June 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth (Eastlund) and Robert “Bob Bundee” Swanson. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Teschendorf; siblings, Bruce, Ellen, Tim, and Bill; mother to Jodi (Carlos) Whitmore, James (Sophia) Teschendorf, and Jon Teschendorf; grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of 4.
Sharon graduated from Moorhead High School and obtained an associate’s degree in Business from Moorhead State College. In the banking business, she climbed the ladder from book keeper to branch manager. She enjoyed being a member of Rotary in both Michigan and Minnesota, and was a longtime treasurer of the Pelican Rapids Rotary Club. Sharon enjoyed her retirement years at their lake home near Pelican Rapids, and traveling with friends and family. During that time, she was also very active in the Cormorant Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Cormorant Lutheran Church.

PAUL KNUTSON

Pastor Paul Ernest Knutson died Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.
Paul was born February 7, 1942, to Ernest and Esther (Hulberg) Knutson in Whitehall, WI. He graduated from Pleasantville Grade School, Whitehall Memorial High School (1960), Luther College, Decorah, IA (1964), Luther Theological Seminary, St Paul, MN (1968), and St. Joseph’s Hospital Chaplaincy training.
Following ordination on June 9, 1968, in Osseo, WI, Pastor Knutson served at Grove Lake and North Immanuel Lutheran Churches of Pelican Rapids, MN. He subsequently served congregations in Clearbrook, Leonard, and Grygla, MN. He also served as a chaplain at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Paul, MN, and Hazelden Center in Center City, MN. Pastor Knutson retired in 2007. Pastor Knutson married Alice Labraaten in 1968.   read entire story. . . .

ELMER NELSON

Elmer H. Nelson, 95, a life-long resident of Pelican Rapids, died on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Pelican Valley Health Center.
Elmer Henry Nelson was born on May 5, 1921 near Pelican Rapids to Julius and Annette (Hanson) Nelson. He attended country school near his home farm in Tansem Township, Clay County, MN. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942, where he served in the India Berma Theater during WWII, at the same time that three of his brothers were also serving in the military overseas.
Soon after returning to Pelican Rapids from service, he married Eunice Julsrud, also from the Pelican Rapids area. Elmer and Eunice had a great life together, and they were married for over 66 years. Elmer worked at Lake Region Electric Cooperative for over 40 years, most of that time as a lineman. They raised three children together at their home in Pelican Rapids, where they resided for almost 60 years. During retirement, Elmer and Eunice loved to travel. They went on many travel adventures in their motorhome, seeing almost all of the states in America. On one particular trip to the west coast, they even teamed up in a 'camper caravan' with their good friends, Kenny and Alice Joyce Larson and several members of their families. They also traveled by plane, visiting Sandra and her family when they lived in Germany, and several visits to Boston where Gary and his family lived for several years. One of his last trips, Elmer, along with friend Kenny Larson, was privileged to join the WDAY honor flight group, touring the WWII Memorial and Washington D.C.  read entire story. . . .

MARLAND DOW

Marland Dow, age 80, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Marland Clarence Dow was born June 12, 1935 in Barnesville, Minnesota to Clarence and Arylis (Ambrose) Dow. He graduated from Barnesville High School and later graduated from North Dakota State University Agricultural College. Then Marland farmed southwest of Barnesville with his father until 1972.  He also was employed at West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids. On September 23, 1972 he was united in marriage with Jeanne Kub in Ipswich, South Dakota.  To this union two children were born, Eric and Laura. Marland worked for Minn-Dak Farmers Coop in Wahpeton for numerous years then was employed with Walmart in Detroit Lakes. Marland returned to Minn-Dak Farmers Coop retiring in 2012.  read entire story. . . .

JAMES ROSENDAHL

James G. Rosendahl was born on December 31, 1925 in Greenview Township, Finley, ND to John and Laura (Bjugstad) Rosendahl. He lived on a farm at Finley until graduation from high school.
Shortly after, he enlisted in the US Army Infantry where he spent 4 years fighting with the 69th Division in WWII. He was wounded in WWII’s Battle of the Bulge in Europe, Feb. 27, 1945 and spent until the summer of 1947 in several Army hospitals.  He was honored with 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, plus other awards.  
Jim was employed by Dakota Electric Supply Company from 1948 to 1988, retiring as Chairman of the Board. He served on Committee for the National Association of Electrical Distributors for 4 years.
Jim was active in Veteran’s Affairs, where he served on the Governor’s Advisory Committee for over 20 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Post, District and State Commander.  read entire story. . . .

MARILYN TERRY

Marilyn Jean Terry, 68, a resident of Pelican Rapids passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls after a lengthy battle with diabetes. Marilyn Jean was born on September 2, 1947 in Detroit Lakes and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dent, Minnesota.
Marilyn and Ed lived in Fargo, Apple Valley, Minnesota, Cogswell, Forman, Cooperstown, North Dakota and Pelican Rapids since 1991. She graduated from Perham High School in 1965 and later attended Wahpeton School of Science where she earned an LPN Nursing license in 1984. She enjoyed nursing in several clinics, and nursing homes, as well as working as a home health nurse. Marilyn loved her two boys and their friends. She was thoroughly involved in their school performance and especially loved their sports activities in Pelican Rapids. Marilyn was well known for her delicious caramel rolls, wild rice soup, knitting, and crocheting. She also was an avid reader who loved the Pelican Rapids library and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Marilyn will be remembered for her quick wit and fun-loving sense of humor.  Marilyn loved her church life at Faith Lutheran Church which was a big part of her life and she thoroughly enjoyed all the fellowship activities.  read entire story. . . .

CLEO ROSSUM

Cleo Rossum, age 81, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home in rural Pelican Rapids, MN.
Cleo Einar Rossum was born on November 6, 1934 on the family farm, Pelican Rapids, the son of Evan Brede and Christine Selma (Berg) Rossum. He grew up in Norwegian Grove Township. Cleo attended country school District 280.
Cleo served his country in the US Army in the late 1950s. He was stationed in Kentucky, Missouri, and several other places.
He returned home and began a lifelong career doing carpentry work.  He started out with Gilman Resset and eventually went on his own. He built and remodeled several sheds, barns, and homes around the Pelican Rapids area. He was meticulous with his projects, everything needed to be square and there were no shortcuts taken. He liked to stick close to home and keep things up around there.  In his spare time, he was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

SHARON TEBERG

Sharon Teberg, 75, of Menomonie, WI, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, May 16, 2016, in Our House Assisted Living, Menomonie, under the care of Hospice.
Sharon Estelle Skunberg was born September 19, 1940, the daughter of Clifford and Alice (Nelson) Skunberg in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was raised there and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1958. On June 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Teberg, in Pelican Rapids. While Dick served in the military they lived in Georgia and then Germany, before returning to Moorhead.  
They established their home in Moorhead where Sharon began working at the Clay County Auditor’s Office in 1972. Dick died on November 12, 1998. Sharon retired in 2002 and continued to live in Moorhead until moving to Menomonie, WI, in November of 2014.

GAIL SUKO

Gail E. Suko, 75, rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, in her home.
Gail Elaine Connelly was born March 10, 1941, to Lawrence and Ruth (Thompson) Connelly in Fargo, ND.  She grew up on the Connelly family farm north of Sabin, MN.  Gail graduated from Moorhead High School in 1959 and then attended nursing school in Crookston, MN, where she obtained the status of LPN.  
She worked as a nurse in multiple roles, ranging from the emergency room, operating room, and nursing homes in Redondo Beach, CA, Fargo-Moorhead, and St. George, UT.  Gail married Raymond Suko on October 21, 1966, in South Dakota.  
After working 30 years in the nursing field, she decided to follow her dream of running a restaurant and with her husband, purchased the Ye Olde Schoolhouse Bar and Grill in Edwards, MN, in 1991.  Her husband Ray passed away in 1993, and she ran the business for another 17 years on her own.  
Gail retired in 2011, to her lake cabin on Tamarac Lake in Otter Tail County, MN, where she was able to spend time with her family, whom she loved very much. She was an avid reader, recipe collector, bingo player, crossword puzzle expert, and cook. She was well-known for her specialties at the restaurant which included spaghetti and meatballs, and fish on Fridays.  Her “secret” French dressing recipe was very much in demand.
